Driven by China's "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" goals and the advancement of the circular economy, spent coffee grounds (SCGs), as a common type of organic waste, demonstrate unique material potential in sustainable design. In this study, life cycle assessment (LCA), case analysis and comparative analysis are employed to explore the application value and practical limitations of SCGs in food packaging, fashion accessories, apparel and other fields. The findings reveal that while SCGs offer advantages such as low carbon emissions and biodegradability, their broader application is constrained by poor water resistance, limited durability, and high processing costs. To enhance their feasibility, strategies including material modification, localized treatment systems, and industry-academia-research collaboration are proposed. Consumption trends of Generation Z are incorporated to build a design strategy framework centered on ecological, functional, innovative, and aesthetic dimensions. SCGs are not only an emerging green material choice but also a powerful medium for emotionally resonant and symbolically rich sustainable design, offering vast application prospects and social value.
