Abstract

As the first American design research journal covering design history, theory, and criticism, Design Issues has been committed to advancing the discipline and development of design studies since its inception, providing a professional academic platform for design research. The bibliometric methods and CiteSpace software are employed to conduct a visual analysis of key words, prolific authors, and highly cited literature in Design Issues. The trends in design research topics are summarized into three aspects: the expansion of design theory boundaries, the reconstruction of design research paradigms, and the advocacy for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key words

Design Issues / interdisciplinary research / bibliometrics / design research
