Based on fashion magazines, this paper explores the origin of China??s sustainable consciousness and explains the concept of sustainable clothing in the early stage of reform and opening up. By returning to the development situation of China??s textile and garment industry in the early period of reform and opening up, this paper collects fashion magazines such as Fashion, China Clothing, and Shanghai Clothing as the research references, trying to interpret the form and effect of China??s garment sustainable development in the early period from an empirical perspective. In the fashion magazines, there are mainly five types of design and use methods, giving a glimpse of the sustainable concept of Chinese clothing, among which, the choosing before buying clothing and the care and collection after that account for most. After statistical analysis, fashion magazines have tried to lead in production, consumption and use by teaching the knowledge of selecting clothes, maintaining clothes, promoting health-care clothes and remolding old clothes to form a sustainable clothing cycle, which is expected to provide historical experience and reference for the sustainable development of China's clothing industry and fashion life.
